Bowl remaining... Reminder: All Super Bowl picks must be made before midnight AST (11pm EST) Saturday night!! That's because I will then post everyone's picks on this website, and no further picks will be allowed after I've posted the picks. So don't be late!! The conference championships are in the books, so only the Super Bowl remains... and we already have a winner!! Bish has gotten all 10 games right so far, and no one can catch her for first overall... so she will win the $990 1st overall prize... CONGRATS!! Dave & Ken sits 2 points behind and is guaranteed at least $200 for 4th place, and Bayman and Punt to me Patty are current tied 3 points behind, but aren't guaranteed a prize just yet. Then there are 8 people with 6 points, and they are also still alive and may win a prize. In fact, everyone with 5 points are mathematically still alive, although chances are slim at this point. At the bottom of the standings, Beau leads everyone in the booby prize race with only 1 point so far, but there are 3 people (Mr. X, Brady Bunch and Eddie the Eagle) who can take the booby prize from her, depending on their pick and score guess for the big game. So for this last pick (the Super Bowl game), everyone who has a shot at a prize has to guess the final score of the Super Bowl. The tie breaker rules are listed at the bottom of the spreads and confirmation pages, and are basically the same as for the regular season weeks. Whoever guesses closest to the total score will win the tie breaker. This also applies to the booby prize... if there is a tie (or ties) for last overall, whoever guesses closest to the total score will win the booby prize. If there is still a tie, then see the tie breaker rules for further tie breakers. One last thing... there is a hard deadline for making your Super Bowl pick and score guess... Saturday, Feb 6 at midnight AST (11pm EST). That's the night before the Super Bowl. Everyone's picks must be in by then so I can post them to the internet well before the game. I may not be around on Super Bowl Sunday, so will have to update the website late night Saturday. Playoffs start on Saturday, and as always we're also running a playoff pool which is completely separate from the regular season pool. The playoff pool has a separate entry fee of $50.00, which you must get to us before the first playoff game starts on Saturday if you want to participate. Results This is a first... there was a 3-way tie this week that could not be broken. books! Game 1 of week 1 has been played, and although Pittsburgh won the game 13-10 in overtime, those of you who picked Tennessee won the point because the spread was 5-1/2... Pittsburgh had to win by 6, and didn't. So out of 127 people who submitted their picks, only 37 people got game 1 right by picking Tennessee, while 90 people got it wrong. Week 1 continues with 13 games on Sunday, and 2 games the following night. On Monday morning I will let you know here who is in the running to win the week, and who picked who for the Monday games... so be sure to check back here before Monday's games to see if you can win! Spreads are posted I've just posted the spreads for week 1, so you can make your picks at any time. The first game is only 3 days away, so don't forget to submit your picks before then!! I've updated the website... the final standings for last year's regular season and playoff pools have been archived in the history section, and I've updated the standings page for this year. It's basically blank for now (except for our 4 entries)... all your other entries will be added as your picks come in. We will be going through the entry fees probably this Sunday before the games, and making sure everyone who has submitted picks has also submitted their entry fee. NFL Football Pool - IT'S ON!!!! Yup... it's on!! Took me a little longer this year than past years to make up my mind, but I've come to my senses, and we'll be running the football pool once again this year. The playoff pool too. It'll be run the same way as in past years... $50 gets you in for the entire year. The season starts on Thursday Sept 10 with 1 game, and the rest of the week 1 games on Sunday Sept 13 and Monday Sept 14... So I'll likely have the spreads posted by Monday, Sept 7. running the 14th annual NFL Football Pool. The website will once again be www.fopool.com,
and it will be ready to go shortly. NOTE: I'm sending this email to
everyone who was in last year's football pool, playoff pool, or who
asked to be put on the mailing list. The NFL season starts shortly after the labour
day weekend. Therefore, we don't have much time to get our
list of this year’s participants ready. If you want to participate,
you must get your name on our participants list.... and you do that by
sending in your $50.00 entry fee for each team you want to enter (yes,
many people enter more than one team). The best way to send us your entry
fee is by cheque to the following address: Lisa Moore Or for those who want to send an “Email Money
Transfer”, send it to lisa@bishmore.com. The entry fee is once again $50.00 for the entire
year, and you should send it to us right away..... since we need to
receive it prior to posting the week 1 spreads on (or about) September
7, 2009. We would like to set the prize money before we start, and this
year don't want people to be entering their picks in prior to having
paid the entry fee. SO SEND US YOUR ENTRY FEE RIGHT AWAY :) We know
there are always people who forget or leave it to the last minute, but
it would be really helpful if we didn't have to scramble to get your
name added just before the season starts..... so do us all a favour and
drop it in the mail today!! ... And include your name with your entry fee so we
don't have to guess who you are by the name on your cheque!! If entering more than one team, please include the
names of all teams you're paying for. The pool will be run exactly the same way it was
run in previous years: Last year we had 133 people in the pool, the year
before we had 141, and 128 the year before that. First place the last
couple of years has been set at $1,200, $800 for 2nd, $600
for 3rd… and so on, down to $100 for 15th. Since
we pay out all entry fees as prizes, the final prize payouts won’t be
able to be determined until we know how many people have entered. We the
organizers of the pool do not keep any money for running the pool.... we
do it for fun :) The weekly prize has historically been the exact
same as the entry fee…. $50… so if you win a week, you win your
entry fee back. However last year we had so many people in the pool, we
doubled the weekly prize to $100 and the year-end prizes were able to
stay roughly the same as the year before. We may end up doing the same
thing this year if we get a lot of people in the pool. That's it!! So.... we need to hear from you ASAP if you plan on
participating. If you don't plan on participating, then let us know that
too, so we can take your email address off our mailing list (we don't
want to be accused of sending SPAM!!! :). Also, please forward this
email to the people you know of who also want to be in the pool....
or who were in the pool last year but may not have given us their email
address. We don't want anyone to be left out. Tell them the pool is
starting up again!! Also.... feel free to tell your friends about the
pool, as we always welcome new participants!! You can either send their
entry fees in for them, or forward this email to them so they can send
it in themselves. Finally..... we like it when you send in multiple
entry fees in one cheque along with a list of all the people you're
paying for. So for example if you and a group of people at your office
are all going to join, it would be great if someone could gather all
their entry fees and send them to us at once. Not necessary, but
helpful. If anyone has any questions, just let me know. We
