16th Annual (2011) NFL Football Pool
A private, fun, football pool
where you must try to beat the point spread every week, for every
football game. Weekly and year-end prizes are awarded for the best

Congratulations to Phoebe for winning the
Playoff Pool (and $1,190.00) with 6 points... in an 8 way tie-breaker!
She guessed closest to the final total score... 49, whereas the final
total was 38 (21-17 for the Giants). It was a little more difficult to
break the ties for second and third place, since there was a 3-way time
for these two prizes with a guess of 51 by Lambeanator, Big Daddy and
CK. To break these ties we had to go to the third tie-breaker, the
person guessing closest to the winning team's score. The Giants were
the winning team, and they scored 21 points. Therefore of the three
people tied with 51 total points, Lambeaunator wins second place (and
$510.00) with his guess of 24 for the Giants, and Big Daddy wins third
(and $200.00) for his guess of 27. CK guessed 31 for the Giants.
Finally, the booby prize (and $200.00) goes to cdnsteel2 who had the
lowest final total (2) among those who submitted their picks every week.
Congrats to all winners!!!
All prizes will be mailed out within the next two weeks, so if you've
won a prize, you can send Lisa your address before she asks you. Her

Everyone's picks have been uploaded to the
standings page... including SuperBowl score guesses. I've included the
total scores as well to make it easier to follow, and I've sorted
everyone by the team they picked first, then their score guess.
Remember these are the tie-breakers:
- Person guessing closest to the Super
Bowl's TOTAL SCORE (by both teams) wins.
- Still tied? Person guessing closest to
AND UNDER the Super Bowl's total score wins.
- Still tied? Person guessing closest to
the winning team's score wins.
- Still tied? Person guessing closest to
AND UNDER the winning team's score wins.
- Still tied? Person guessing the
correct SuperBowl winner wins.
- Still tied? You split the money (OK,
so there's a slim chance that there'll be a tie... but doubtful!)
Also remember that there are only 3 prizes (plus the booby prize)...
and tie-breakers will be used to break all ties.
So there you go! Good luck to all who are still in the running,
and enjoy the big game!!!!

Wow what a race this is turning out to be...
There's a 13-way tie for the lead at 6 points! This will be the lowest
winning total ever. Make sure you guess the score of the game, as that
will determine the winners!!
The spreads are posted for the Super Bowl, and I ask that you all make
your pick by Saturday, the day before the Super Bowl. DO NOT wait until
Sunday, because you will be too late. I will be posting everyone's
picks Saturday night, so everyone knows what has to happen for them to
win.... and I WILL NOT accept any picks once I've posted everyone
else's picks and scores.

I've updated the standings thus far, and
after 8 games there is a 3-way tie for first place with 6 points, and 8
people have 5 points. In the booby prize race, 4 people have 2 points
which is the worst so far. Therefore with only 3 games remaining,
EVERYONE is still in the running to win a prize!!
The spreads are posted for the Conference Championship games, so ytou
can make those picks at any time.

We have 42 people participating in the
playoff pool, and assuming we get everyone's entry fee the prizes will
be as follows:
1st place: $1,190
2nd place: $510
3rd place: $200
Booby (last place): $200
TOTAL = $2,100, which is 42 x $50 ea.
After the wildcard round we have 3 people tied for the lead with 4
points, and 10 people with 3 points. Only 1 person has 0, and 13 have 1
point. Everyone else has 2... and EVERYONE is still in the running for
a prize!
Round 2 spreads are now posted, so make your picks at any time!! I will
try to get everyone's picks up this weekend, but I am away again so it
might be tough. I'll do my best!!

Congratulations to Shamwow for winning the
week, and Nikki Beau for winning the overall pool!! Also congrats to
Flower Power for winning the booby prize, and the 21 others who won a
year end prize!! I've updated the standings page to show the final
results, and will update the "Leaders" page shortly to show how much
everyone won.
But more immediately, I wanted to get the Playoff Spreads
up so everyone who wants to participate in the Playoff pool can get
their picks in. There are 2 games Saturday and 2 games Sunday this
week. You must get all 4 of your picks in BEFORE the first game starts
(so by mid-day Saturday, all 4 weekend picks must be in). We will not
accept picks on Sunday, because we will be posting everyone's picks as
soon as I get a chance to, after the first game starts on Saturday.
So... you can now make
your Playoff Picks at any time... the spreads are up!
If you haven't yet entered, or didn't win enough to cover the Playoff
Pool entry ($50), then send us your entry right away. Remember, the
easiest way is by Email Money Transfer to lisa@bishmore.com (please be
clear to her about the password, no guessing games!!!) or simply drop
it off to our house, or mail it to us:

Congratulations to Redraven for winning week
16's $100 prize with 12 points... in a tie-breaker over Drewf and Frank
Ruzich! Redraven guessed exactly the right total score!
With 1 week to go, we have a tie atop the standings between Nikki Beau
and Chugger!! Both are a full 4 points ahead of third place pint and
Gilbert... but anything can happen!! There's also a tight race at the
bottom for the booby prize with FlowerPower holding a 3 point lead over
N.E. Given Sunday... the full standings have been posted.
For this final week, all 16 games are being played on Sunday, with only
1 late Sunday game... the Cowboys @ Giants in a "winner wins division,
loser is out of playoffs game". That is the game we'll use for the
score to break any ties this week.
Also, please be sure all picks are in before kickoff on Sunday...
that's 1:00pm EST. Shortly after kickoff I plan on posting EVERYONE'S
picks for those of you who are following closely and want to know where
you stand.
PLAYOFF
POOL!!!
As in
past years, we'll once again be holding a playoff pool. Rules and entry
fee are the same ($50 gets you in for the entire playoffs), and it's a
completely separate pool from the regular season (i.e. you get to start
over!) The playoff pool plays like one long week of 11 games... the
people with the most points after the Super Bowl wins!! There are
usually prizes for the top 3 or 5, depending on the number of entries.
So if interested, send your entry fee in right away!!!! Alternatively,
if you've won money during the regular season pool, you can use a
portion of your winnings to enter the playoff pool... just let us know
if you're in! For complete rules of the playoff pool, click the "Rules"
link above.
Good luck... and GO LIONS!!!!!! (playoff bound for the first time in 11
years!!!)
P.S. Lions are 1-1/2 point favorites over Green Bay... IN Green Bay!!!!
I'M STILL PICKING THE LIONS!!!!!!!! (probably why I've never won a week
in the pool in 16 years).

Spreads for week 1 are posted

The spreads for week 1 are posted,
so you can make your picks at any time. The standings page will be
updated at the end of week 1, and it will be at that time that we'll
know how many people are in the pool, and therefore will be able to set
the year-end prize money.
To answer a couple questions I've been getting:
1. No there is no official "registration" to play in this
pool. We just need your entry fee of $50. Feel free to make your picks
now, and send your entry fee afterwards if you're new and haven't sent
it yet.
2. Yes you can make your picks now even if we haven't received
your entry fee. But please send it to us as soon as you can.
3. Yes you can invite your co-workers, family and friends to
participate in the pool. Just tell them to make their week 1 picks
before Thursday's game, and tell them to send us their entry fee (or
you can send it... whichever). Pass this web address on to as many
people as you want: www.fopool.com
4. We cannot confirm receipt of anyone's entry fee yet... so
please don't ask if we've received it :) Lisa receives the entry fees
while I take care of the scoring and the website. So I'll be posting
the standings after week 1, and that will likely include people who
have not paid yet. After week 1 Lisa and I will compare notes, and find
out who still hasn't paid and who has... and will send out reminders to
those who haven't. Just remember... you cannot win a week unless
your entry fee has been received! I will confirm at least that
much in week 1... once I know who's in the running to win the week
(after the Sunday games are played), I'll check with Lisa to make sure
entry fees for those people have been received. If not, they can't win
the week. Their points will still count in the overall standings, but
they'll need to get us their entry fees at least by the end of week 2
or they'll be removed from the standings.
5. Yes, I really do think the Lions will make the playoffs
this year, and get their first playoff win in 20 years.
Kickoff is just 3 days away... don't forget! Get your picks
in!!

for week 1 posted by MONDAY, Sept 5, 2011.
Don't forget... we need your entry fee before the first game's
kickoff... which is next Thursday, Sept 8, 2011.
Anyone who is late getting their entry fee in, cannot win a
week until their $50 is received.
I'll send out an email when spreads are ready.
16th Annual NFL Football Pool - It's ON!!!

Just a quick email to say that YES the NFL season is ON,
and YES we'll be running the NFL football pool @ www.fopool.com once
again.
This will be the 16th year we've run this pool, and it's sure to be
just as much fun as it's always been. What better way to spend those
cold summer Sundays than curled up in front of the TV screaming at
teams who aren't covering their spreads?? Well, I can think of a couple
ways, but I digress.
The website www.fopool.com is in dire need of updating, and I plan on
doing that by mid-August (didn't happen!!). But for the most part,
everything about the pool and how it's run will be the same as in past
years. $50.00 is the entry fee and that gets you in for the entire
regular season. Each week we will post the spreads for the upcoming
week's games, and you have to guess which team will "beat the spread".
The person getting the most correct in any given week, will win that
week and $100. And the end of the 17 week season, all remaining prize
money that was collected will be given out to the top several people in
the pool...
we keep a running total of all the games you get correct during the
season.
Typically the top prize for winning the overall standings is $1,000,
and prizes are usually available for the top 10 or 15... sometimes even
top 20...
depending on how many people we get in the pool. All entry fees
collected are paid out as prizes.
To enter, send $50.00 to LISA MOORE. You can either send an electronic
funds transfer (if you do online banking) to her email address at
lisa@bishmore.com, or mail a cheque to:

I've just setup a Facebook page for the pool... so for those of you who

and you'll be able to leave comments, etc on the wall... but also, I'll
be posting the rules, winners, etc there as well as the website.
Anyways, that's it for now. I just wanted to let you all know that it's
ON again this year, and I'll be sending out more information as the
website gets updated. In the meantime, start "spreading the word"...
