Rules

2009 Regular Season Pool

1. A $50.00 entry fee gets you in for the entire year (not including the playoff pool... that's a separate pool, see below).

2. A $50.00 weekly prize will be awarded for the entrant who gets the most picks right (beating the spread). If two or more entrants are tied, the ties will be broken as per the rules listed below.

3. There WILL NOT BE ANY $25 weekly runner up prize this year. The extra money will go towards the year end prizes.

4. A $200.00 bonus prize will be awarded to the entrant who can get either ALL picks RIGHT or ALL picks WRONG in any given week. This will only be paid a maximum of two times during the season. If none of the bonus prizes are claimed, the money will be awarded as year-end prizes (see below). NOTE: This prize is double what it used to be ($200 vs $100).... as there has never been a winner of this prize!! :)

NOTE: If two or more people tie for the week for the lead, with everyone guessing all picks correct, then although the tie-breaker rules will be used to see who wins the $50 weekly prize, the bonus money of $200 will be split equally. HOWEVER, there are only 2 available bonus prizes of $200 each available to be won.

Example 1: If two people get all picks right in a week thus winning the week, and if there is still $400 in the bonus prize pool, then the tie-breaker rules will be applied to see who wins the $50 weekly prize, but both people will win a $200 bonus prize for getting all points right. So $250 will go to one person, and $200 to the other.

Example 2: If two people get all picks right in a week, but 1 bonus prize was already won in a previous week (leaving $200 in the bonus prize pool), then the remaining $200 bonus money will be split evenly. Therefore one person gets $50 for winning the week after tie-breakers, PLUS $100 as their share of the bonus money, while the other gets $100 as their share of the bonus money.

Example 3: If three people get all picks right in a week, and all $400 remains in the bonus pool, the one person gets $50 for winning the week after tie-breakers, plus $400 / 3 = $133.33 for a total of $183.33. The other two will each win their share of the bonus money, or $133.33.

5. We often post the weekly results BEFORE Monday's game so that people can see what has to happen for them to win the week. Because of this, we do not allow people to change their Monday pick after Sundays games have been played.

6. The organizers of this pool DO NOT retain any of the entry fees for themselves (We pay our $50.00 entry fee like everyone else!). ALL collected money will be paid out in prizes throughout the course of the season.

7. All prizes and entry fees are in CANADIAN DOLLARS.

Weekly Tie Breakers
Each week there will be a $50 prize for the person getting the most points for that week. In the event of a tie, we will break the tie as follows:
Person guessing closest to Monday's game's TOTAL POINTS (by both teams) wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to AND UNDER the total points wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to the winning team's score wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to AND UNDER the winning team's score wins.
Still tied? You split the money.

2010 Playoff Pool

1. A $50.00 entry fee gets you in for the entire playoffs.

2. Each week we will post the spreads for the up-coming week's games (4 games in week 1, 4 games in week 2, 2 games in week 3, and the Super Bowl in the final week... totaling 11 games). Each week prior to any of the games starting, you will submit those week's picks to us. Once the games have started, we will post everyone's picks on this website so you'll know exactly where you stand. At the end of the playoffs, prizes will be awarded to the people who get the most picks right out of the 11 total games. You have to beat the spread to get the points!!

3. There will be NO TIES (at least, I don't think so :)! Therefore, we have come up with a system of tie-breakers all based on the Super-Bowl game; you'll be asked to pick the final score and winner of the Super Bowl for the purposes of breaking ties. The tie-breaker rules will be as follows:
Person guessing closest to the Super Bowl's TOTAL SCORE (by both teams) wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to AND UNDER the Super Bowl's total score wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to the winning team's score wins.
Still tied? Person guessing closest to AND UNDER the winning team's score wins.
Still tied? Person guessing the correct SuperBowl winner wins.
Still tied? You split the money (OK, so there's a slim chance that there'll be a tie... but doubtful!)

4. There will be no weekly prizes... only final prizes awarded at the end of the playoffs, as follows:
If 31 or less people in the pool:
1st Place: 70% of entry fees, not incl. $200 for 3rd and booby

4th Place: $200.00
5th Place: $200.00

If 63 or more people in the pool:
1st Place: 40% of entry fees, not incl. $600 for 6th, 7th and booby
2nd Place: 25% of entry fees, not incl. $600 for 6th, 7th and booby
3rd Place: 15% of entry fees, not incl. $600 for 6th, 7th and booby
4th Place: 10% of entry fees, not incl. $600 for 6th, 7th and booby
5th Place: 10% of entry fees, not incl. $600 for 6th, 7th and booby
6th Place: $200.00
7th Place: $200.00
Last place (booby prize): $200.00

5. All prizes and entry fees are in CANADIAN DOLLARS.

6. To register for the Playoff Pool, send an email to robnlisa@accesswave.ca with your email address, and the name you want to register. You can enter more than one name if you want. You'll then have to send $50.00 per entry to:
Lisa Moore
21 StarrySky Court
Upper Tantallon, NS   B3Z 4H7

Or, instead of sending a cheque, you can send an email money transfer to robnlisa@accesswave.ca.

7. If you've won money in the regular season pool, you can simply request that your entry fee(s) be taken from your winnings, so you don't have to send us another cheque.

8. All prizes will be sent out within 2 weeks of the Super Bowl. This includes prizes from the regular season pool.
